Where businesses are born and where they fail. Every day, the BODACC publishes company creations and court rulings; matched with INSEE’s SIRENE register, they draw a map of the economic climate, département by département.

Method and limits
Period: full history since January 2008, monthly by default. Selecting a range (slider above the timeline) lets you go down to days over the last 16 months (weeks are not published: they would reveal suppressed days).
Creations published in the BODACC: first “creation” or “registration” notice of a business (initial notice), dated by publication. Excluded when SIRENE shows a unit created more than 18 months earlier (new establishment of an older company). Micro-businesses, rarely in the BODACC, are under-represented.
Deduplicated failures: opening of receivership or compulsory liquidation, once per company and per episode (receivership converted into liquidation counts once), dated by the ruling. Close to the Banque de France definition. Safeguard proceedings, which are preventive, are a separate indicator and are not failures.
Unconsolidated data: a ruling appears in the BODACC 10 days later on median, 95% within 36 days. The last 35 days (since {nc}) are therefore under-counted: hatched on the timeline and dotted on the charts.
Sector and size: taken from the legal unit in SIRENE (stock as of {stock}), current status rather than at the date of the event. Sector × size combinations are not published: when a sector is selected, the size filter is ignored (flagged).
Suppression: any value below 5 (including 0) is replaced by “< 5” on the map, charts, tooltips, tables and in the published files. The net balance is only shown when both terms reach 5. Secondary suppression: extra cells are hidden so that no suppressed value can be recovered by subtraction. 12-month totals and averages are only shown when all 12 months are published.
Alsace-Moselle: no failures published in the BODACC for Moselle, Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin since late 2025 (and few for Mayotte). This is not an absence of failures: their publication falls under a local regime.
Municipality zoom: by municipality, over one month, a rolling 12 months (only when all 12 months are published) or a year. Events are assigned to the municipality of the current head office (SIRENE); Paris, Lyon and Marseille are counted as whole cities.
Rates and change: the rate relates the value to the number of active legal units in the same year (SIRENE, legal categories 1000 to 6999), only when that number is at least 50; over a month it is a rate for the period, not annualised. Change compares with the same period a year earlier, only for complete periods and values of at least 5.

BODACC — DILA
Official bulletin of civil and commercial notices, published by the Direction de l’information légale et administrative (DILA).
Département boundaries: france-geojson, based on IGN Admin Express COG and INSEE (Licence Ouverte), simplified. Municipality boundaries: geo.api.gouv.fr (Etalab, based on IGN Admin Express and INSEE COG, Licence Ouverte), simplified and loaded on demand.
No personal data is published: no names, no company numbers, no addresses. Only aggregated counts by département are released.
This reuse is neither official nor endorsed by DILA or INSEE.
Reuse of BODACC (DILA) and SIRENE (Insee) data under the Licence Ouverte 2.0, extracted on 21/10/2026. This map is neither official nor endorsed by DILA or Insee. BODACC data are not exhaustive (missing notices, delays and indexing errors are possible) and the latest days are unconsolidated. In line with DILA reuse rules (article L322-2 of the French CRPA), no re-identification of people or businesses is allowed or performed: only aggregates are published, with no SIREN or names, a threshold of 5 and secondary suppression (no hidden cell can be recovered by subtraction).
